The couple married the following year and moved to Bath, Maine for Gregory to find Political Success.

Governor of Maine
Upon Palmer’s succession to the Presidency, Taft returned to Maine where he launched a run for Governor and this time he easily won the nomination and would face Maine Attorney General Mark Gareth which he beat with 59.4% of the votes. He improved the state’s rural poor population, a job he did so well he beat Veteran John Gatz with 63.3% of the votes in 2014 and in his second term he kept his way but now with each poor demographic. He was so successful his son would win the 2018 election with 54.9% of the votes.
In 2016 with his last term halfway done Taft had a choice, retire as a successful statesman or bring the Taft name another title. In May of 2016 he announced the latter and that he would seek Maine’s senate seat in 2018 and no other Republican wasted their money challenging him. He faced Congressman Eleanor Maguire but won with 67.1% of the votes in the midterm’s most lopsided contents. He has been a great bipartisan rock during the Calvin administration but hasn’t confirmed if he’ll run for a second term.
