The Guuti Empire, formerly Nunatsiaq, is an authoritarian empire founded around a cult of personality of a very charismatic leader, who has chosen to call himself Guuti I(Idol in Inuktitut). It is a large and military chiefdom that resembles various eurasian states. It occupies the area around Great Slave Lake in OTL Yellowknife, but its territory is growing as it conquers new kingdoms and unites the Dene peoples of Arcadia. The Chiefdom has not had official contact with Europeans yet, but it has heard of them from neighboring tribes. Chief Guuti I proclaimed the Chiefdom in 1718, but the Yellowknife and Slavay tribes had inhabited that area for many years before then.

Expansion[]

Since its founding, Chief Guuti I has made several militaristic and expansionist policies with the aim of uniting the Dene people.

Union with Slavay[]

One of the first expansions was voluntary union of the northern Slavay tribe and the Dene Chiefdom in 1717.

Siege of Naranaqut[]

In 1719, Guuti I's standing army of 1,000 devoted followers raided the easternmost lakeside city, Naranaqut, killed its chieftain, and subjugated its populace. Naranaqut was the biggest lakeside town in the area and now it is under Dene control.

Inuit Genocide[]

During the little ice age, Emperor Guuti took advantage of the Inuits' worse off position and used his armies to invade various territories and make them dependent on him and his growing cities. Various Inuit tribes submitted to Guuti's rule and others were completely wiped out.

Standing Army[]

The Chiefdom is one of the few Dene nations to have a standing army.

Devotees of Guuti[]

The Devotees of Guuti is a cult like organization centered around Guuti I, the leader of the chiefdom. They consist of 500 fighters and priests. Not only do they fight as an army, but they also convert tribes to the cult religion and assassinate chiefs. They are both women and men. Several of the women are concubines for Guuti I as well as warriors and priests.

Lake Navy Corps[]

A fleet of boats that raid and weaken tribes along the edge of the Great Slave Lake. They were vital in the capture of Naranaqut. They consist of 30 small ships, each with crews of 20. They basically act as state sponsored pirates.

Dene Warrior Corps[]

These are the elte warriors of the chiefdom. They are all trained warriors and hunters who are loyal to their tribe, not Guuti's cult. There are 2,000 of them and they are all men.

Guuti Imperial Army[]

The largest forces of the empire, they consist of 5,000 soldiers.

Predicted Population Growth[]

With the invention of the wheel and building faster ways to get around places, populations have begun to grow and condense in various places.

T'atsaot'ine[]

T'atsaot'ine or Yellowknife is the largest settlement in the empire and is growing.

Flags[]

Traditional War Flag[]

Dene Flag

This flag is the traditional war flag of the empire and symbol of the Dene tribe long before it became an empire.

Guuti's Royal Flag[]

Guuti Flag

This flag was adopted after the Guuti Empire was declared. The shape in the center is a diamond. Diamonds are an important resource to the empire and they are used to bribe neighboring tribes into submission as an alternative to war. Diamonds are also used in weapons due to the fact that they are sharp. The red represents blood, showing how much of the Empire was and will be claimed through bloodshed. The Blue stripes symbolize ice, which was important to Guuti's armies when capturing Inuit cities and towns. The empire is also located in a mildly cold area.

Relations[]

Kingdom of Mzerka and Wiyot[]

Guuti III sent an envoy there and the two have exchanged goods and gotten better relations as they are also a dene nation.
