The point of divergence in this timeline occurs on July 11, 1804. On this day, Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr dueled in New Jersey. In this timeline, the duel lasts for two rounds. Both times, Burr misses Hamilton, and Hamilton "wastes his shot", meaning he is showing bravery and that he does not believe that Burr is worth a bullet. As a result, Burr is embarrassed and his political career is ruined, while Hamilton is celebrated amongst the reinvigorated Federalists.
