Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton (born October 26, 1947) is an American politician serving as the 42nd and current President of the United States since 2017. A Democrat, Clinton was also a U.S. Senator from New York from 2001 to 2017 and the First Lady of the United States from 1993 to 2001, when her husband Bill was president.
In 2011, as a member of the United States Senate, Clinton introduced the 28th Amendment, which abolished the Electoral College. The amendment was a huge success and was ratified two years after being introduced. It was signed into law by President John McCain in 2013.
In the 2016 presidential election, Clinton won in a close victory against businessman Donald Trump. Upon taking office, she is the first female president in American history, as well as the first First Lady to be president. Her inauguration also made her and her husband the first married couple to be president.
