The House of Barclay de Tolly-Weymarn (Russian: Барклай де Толли-Веймарн) is a princely noble family in Russia and Finland. They are based mainly in Courland. They currently bear the titles Prince of Courland, Prince of Livonia, Prince of Siberia and Prince of Finland and Prince of Manchuria respectively.
They were originally of Baltic German and Scottish origin (Clan Barclay). During the time of the Revolution of 1688 in Britain, the family migrated to Russia from Towy (Towie) in Aberdeenshire. It then became a German-speaking family in Livonia.
After the extinction of the original Barclay de Tolly princely line upon the death in 1871 of Prince Michael's son, Magnus, Alexander II of Russia allowed Prince Michael's sister's grandson (through female lineage), Alexander von Weymarn, to assume the title of Prince Barclay de Tolly-Weymarn in 1872.
However, after the Russian Civil War, Prince Nicholas Barclay de Tolly-Weymarn, one of the last-surviving escaped and lived in Tsarytsin, where most, if not all Baltic Germans were evacuated to in the aftermath of Cyril I's ascent as Emperor of Russia, where along with the House of Rennenkampf and House of Lieven, formed part of the "Great Three" of the Baltic German families, who did not emigrate or side with the German Empire, which the Russian Empire had just fought a war against. His eldest son, Prince Theodore I Nikolayevich, married ????, Prince Theodore too, would become Russian Orthodox, starting the Orthodox faction of the House of Barclay de Tolly-Weymarn. The royal house is currently mixed, with both its Lutheran and Orthodox factions.
Due to the toll that the civil war, and scarcity of noblewomen to marry, Prince Nicholas decided to honor marganatic unions and marriages, and it is through those unions that the Barclay de Tolly-Weymarns have survived today.
During the Interwar Period, factions also migrated to Finland, and became part of the Finnish nobility.
The Barclay de Tolly-Weymarns have an estimated total net worth of ₽44.5 billion ($44.5 billion OTL USD). They are currently the third-wealthiest Baltic German princely family.
