They are descended from the better-known Clan Ostoja, originates probably from Russian boyar Daniel Aleksandrowicz's son Vladimir Danielewicz, that settled down in Lithuania. Prior to becoming known as the Danilovs, were were known as the Ostoja-Danielewicz. Originally, they were of knight and lord-status.
For the majority of their history, the ancestors of who would today, become the Danilovs, were Catholic and part of the Polish schlazta. During the Russian Civil War, and Revolution, the Lithuanian factions fell victim to Lithuanian nationalists, and after the Russian false flags in the Baltics blaming the Catholics, the Lithuanian factions became part of the Russian nobility, became Orthodox and were granted the title Prince/Princess of Lithuania by Tsar Cyril I Vladimirovich.
As the other Russian Danilovs later spread out into other parts of the Russian Empire, they also successfully adopted the titles Prince of Siberia and Prince of Manchuria.
Today, they are one of the most-established nobilities in Eastern Europe. The Russian House of Danilov owns assets totaling up to ₽24.3 billion, and the Polish faction (mainline Clan of Ostoja) owning up to ₽6.4 billion (zł15.4 billion) worth of wealth.
