The House of Frankenstein is a Swiss noble family descended from Pope Victor V of the House of Lenzburg. Victor V had numerous children while bishop and later pope, which he pushed to the forefront of Italian and German politics. After his death most of his children were later ousted by subsequent popes or Italian nobles, with the noted exception of his son Amadeus Frankstein, from whom descends a minor line of northwest German nobles, centered around the County of Pyrmont.
