The House of Mikhalkov (Russian: Михалков) is a princely noble in Russia that originated from the banks of the Volga River. They bear the titles of Prince/Princess of Lithuania, Prince/Princess of the Volga and Prince/Princess of Manchuria respectively.
The Mikhalkovs began to be noticed around the 15th century, however, for the most part, they lost their titles of nobility. They were already titleless during the Russian Civil War. After the victory over the Whites and the Tsarists, Tsar Cyril I moved them into the knyaz class of the Russian nobility.
They reached the apex of their prominence during the Cold War, where many worked in the arts, military, and governance. The national anthem of the post-1917 Russian Empire was written by Prince Sergey Mikhalkov.
