The House of Tondo is a royal family in the Philippines. They are the current ruling family of the Kingdom of the Pasig, and have been rulers even before the Spanish era, dating all the way back to the days of vassalage of the Bruneian Empire and when Tondo was a trading dynasty.
The most well-known earliest figure of this royal family is Lakan Dula, a native Kapampagan king, rule or lakan who ruled a polity known as Tondo who was one of the "three kings" that the Spaniards encountered, the other two being Rajah Sulayman and his uncle Rajah Matanda. Tondo's pre-Spanish history is according to ancient documents and semi-legends, sharing a beginning as the historical Rajahnate of Maynila, as a Muslim polity which later became vassal to the Bruneian Empire, and later a trading kingom with the Ming Dynasty.
Lakan Dula converted to Roman Catholicism upon contact with the Spaniards, and was much more friendlier compared to Rajah Sulayman. Prior, the rulers of Tondo had followed a mix of Hinduism, Animism, Islam and Philippine paganism. While some of Lakan Dula's descendants, such as Datu Magat Salamat were implicated in the Tondo Conspiracy, many of his descendants survived via the loyal members, where Tondo was merged with the former Maynila into Manila - the capital city of the Spanish East Indies. The House of Tondo was absorbed into the Principalia, the native Filipino Catholicized colonial nobility in service to the Spanish Empire.
The House of Tondo exists today in two main branches, the House of Tondo-Macapagal-Arroyo and the House of Tondo-Salonga.
