On July 15th, 1979, NASA scientists made a harrowing discovery. They discovered an asteroid named 1979 HGE5. Only the US and the USSR knew about it. But on July 8th, 1982, a panicked Soviet scientist told the world that an asteroid would impact Earth approximately on October 23rd, 1982.

Before & During Impact[]
A size relative of the meteor that wiped dinosaurs off the face of the earth, an asteroid named 1979 HGE5 set its' collision course for the planet. For 3 years, it was a secret that only the top American and Soviet political figures knew of, but on July 8th, 1982, the truth got out after Dr. Makarov Brastinev leaked the truth during the 1982 Munich Astrology Convention.
July 9th, 1982[]
Anarchy breaks out across the world. Major American Cities turn into chaos as October 23rd is only 3 months away, the Berlin Wall falls & Hong Kong turns into a battleground between the PLA & anarchists.
July 28th, 1982[]
Evacuations out of the Pacific Ring of Fire begin, as the U.S Army abandons the West Coast, Japan moves its capital from Tokyo to Aomori & the Northern Mariana Island's citizens, alongside its' neighbors, are evacuated to the US's East Coast, Japan, the USSR & The UK.
October 19th, 1982[]
Many hoped the RETI-X Rockets would work & deflect the target, but they didn't. On that Tuesday evening, during CNN's evening news, newscaster David Walker announced that the mission to deflect 1979 HEG5 had failed, and the asteroid would impact that Saturday.
October 21st, 1982[]
On Thursday, the first sightings of the meteor close up were seen, as the meteor was so close to the Earth that it was visible to the human eye. Kennedy Space Centre would send a team of 20 astronauts to the moon with food and supplies to "set up an emergency base". A team of 10 astronauts was also sent to Mars with food and supplies to establish off-world colonies just in case the blast collided with the Moon in any way, considered the worst-case scenario.
October 23rd, 1982[]
Impact. 1979 HGE5 makes contact with the Pacific Ocean close to the Northern Mariana Islands, at the coordinates 16°18'34.5"N, 149°42'52.8"E. The sound is heard across the world, however, due to the speed of sound, it takes about a day to reach the opposite side of the world. The shockwave would follow. One report states an entire house was toppled 2,600 km from the impact.

The massive tsunami in the Pacific Ocean caused devastation in Japan, Taiwan and other areas.
