Iowa is a landlocked state in the central United States. It borders Minnesota to the north, Wisconsin to the northeast, Illinois to the southeast, Missouri to the south, Nebraska to the east, and South Dakota to the northeast. Its capital and largest city is Des Moines. It was admitted to the union on December 28, 1846.
