The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan is a country south of the former state of Afghanistan. They are mainly governed by remnants of the Taliban.
History[]
Doomsday[]
Due to being allied with the USSR, Afghanistan was not spared by Doomsday. The capital city of Kabul was destroyed by a NATO nuclear attack, plunging the rest of the country into chaos. Kabul, just like Kandahar, was hit by a 100 kiloton free-fall bomb and a 250 kt missile. During the confusion, the Pashtun people of southeastern Afghanistan - who had long desired their own state - convened in the city of Lashkar Gah on January 29, 1984, and declared independence. The first year of the new nation's existence was focused mostly on survival and building up a functioning state.
Post-Doomsday[]
Following the establishment of a quasi-state south of Afghanistan, the convened state suffered from constant attacks by unorganized raiders and militants north of the nation. This led to the Afghan government relying on local militias, some of whom are remnants of the Taliban to patrol areas around the Hindu Kush.
Civil War[]
Following a constant power struggle between the government and the militias, a all-out civil war occured within the south, following the announcement of the reformation of the Taliban by their original founder, Abdul-Ghani Baradar. The Taliban has been mainly stationed around the rural areas of the nation, weakening pro-government troops until the Taliban were able to move towards orthodox combat with government troops. Following the defeat of pro-government troops in the Battle of Kajaki, the Taliban was instated as the de-facto national government. The Taliban continues to clash with pro-government militias rebelling in rural areas.
War with Baluchistan and current political situations.[]
The Baluch government and Taliban government fought over full control over Lashkar Gah province, following Baluch expeditions on Mirabad and Khanashin. As the war continues, homeland modernization has been instituted by the Taliban, with the formation of madrasahs (religious schools), dams and modernization of cities in the government. The Taliban are praised by Pakistan for the modernization of their nation compared to other governments, and are a faithful ally to the Taliban government, training their troops and keeping their nation economically stable with lend leases and trade.
