Israel-Palestine, commonly referred to as Israel, is a representative democracy with a parliamentary system located in western Asia on the eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea. It is bordered to the north by Lebanon; to the northeast by the former nation of Syria; Jordan to the east; and by Egypt to the southwest. A cohesive state created in the years following Doomsday, its population is predominantly Jewish and Palestinian. Today, it consists of the state of Israel as it existed before Doomsday, the annexed territories of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and the Sinai Peninsula. A major ally of the United States, Israel was targeted by the Soviet Union on Doomsday.
