Italian Americans are citizens of the United States who are of Italian descent. They are the fourth-largest group of European Americans, behind German, Irish and English Americans. As of the 2010 census, it is estimated there are about 21,718,044 Italian Americans, about 5.6% of the US population. They are the largest community of the Italian diaspora outside of Argentina and Brazil.
