The band rose to prominence in December 2022 with the release of the single "At Your Door", which peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Top 100. He lived in South Philadelphia until the age of eight, when he moved to Los Angeles. In the first six years of his career, Martell was credited almost exclusively under his family name, Lieberher. In 2019, he switched to his mother's maiden name, Martell. He formed the Dandelions in February of 2021, and the band released a self-titled EP in March of that year. In December 2022, following the release of their successful first album, Coming, the band signed to CCC, Atlantic, and Epic Records.
