Jan Stráský (24 December 1940 - 6 November 2019), was a Czechoslovak politician of Czech nationality who served as the tenth prime minister of Czechoslovakia from 1990 to 1998.
Jan Stráský was born on 24 December 1940 in Plzeň. In 1964, Stráský joined the Czechoslovak Agrarian Party and ran for the party in the Bohemian state elections in 1974, 1979 and 1984, but did not win. Later, Stráský ran in the Czechoslovak federal election in 1989, in which he won, becoming the new Prime Minister of Czechoslovakia, and was re-elected in the next federal election in 1993. In October 1996, he announced that he was no longer interested in running in the next election in 1997 and instead Michal Kováč will run for the agrarian party. After the end of his post in 1998, he retired and left the Agrarian Party. In 2006, Stráský became the chairman of the Club of Czechoslovak Tourists, a position he held until 2014. Stráský died on 6 November 2019 in Prague.
