Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. (/ˈrɒbɪnɪt ˈbaɪdən/ ROB-in-it BY-dən; born November 20, 1942) is an American politician serving as the senior United States senator from Delaware, a seat he has held since 2003. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as the 43rd president from 1993 to 1997, the 41st vice president from 1981 to 1985, the 43rd vice president from 1989 to 1993, and had previously represented Delaware in the U.S. Senate from 1973 to 1981.
