Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. (born 20 November 1942) is a Californian politician who was the 47th Vice Chancellor of California from 2010 to 2016. A member of the Liberal Party, he represented Ideland as a Senator from 1973 until his retirement from politics in 2016. After six years of serving as Vice Chancellor in the government of Barack Obama, Biden chose to retire at the 2015 federal election along with Obama. He was succeeded by fellow Liberal Elizabeth Warren.
