King Julio of Florida was born in 1950, the son of then-Crown Prince Carlos. He became Prince of the Keys (Crown Prince) in 1953 when his father became king after the death of his grandfather, José. Julio in turn succeeded to the throne when his father retired at the age of 75. He is second cousin to Emperor Agustín IV of Mexico.

When Carlos abdicated, it was hoped by many that Julio would prove a more progressive leader. These hopes were soon dashed, however, as Julio proved, if anything, even more corrupt than his father. While his people go hungry, Julio and his cronies live in tremendous luxury.
