Karel Schwarzenberg, known as Karel, 12th and 7th Prince of Schwarzenberg (10 December 1937 – 11 November 2023) was a Czechoslovak and Czech politician, diplomat and statesman who served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Czechoslovakia from 1976 to 1978 and then again between 1986 and 1996. He was a United Nations diplomat and mediator noted for his international peace work. He served as a Senator from 2002 to 2021 representing the Czechoslovak People's Party (ČSL) and was its candidate for president of the Czechoslovakia in the 2013 election.
