Kazakhstan, officially the Kazakh Khanate, is a landlocked country in Central Asia. It is bordered by Persia to the south, Russia to the north, and Uyghuristan to the east. The capital and largest city is Akmolinsk.
The territory of today's Kazakhstan has been inhabited since the Paleolithic. Turkic tribes entered the region as early as the 6th century. In the 13th century, the area was under the control of the Mongol Empire, and later the territory of Kazakhstan was under the rule of the Golden Horde. In 1465, during the beginning of the disintegration of the Golden Horde, the Kazakh Khanate was established. In 1879, Kazakhstan became a semi-constitutional monarchy after the adoption of a constitution. Kazakhstan remained neutral during two world wars and the Cold War, but joined the war in World War III after China invaded Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan is a unitary semi-constitutional monarchy and a developed country. Kazakhstan is a member of the United Nations.
