Keith Allen Haring (May 4, 1958) is an American artist whose pop art and graphite-like work grew out of the New York street culture of the 1980s.
Haring's work gained popularity from his spontaneous designs on New York City subways - chalk sketches on blank advertising space backgrounds - depicting radiant babies, flying saucers, and deified dogs. [1] After public recognition, he created works on a larger scale, such as colored murals, many of them commissioned. [1] His images "have become a widely recognized visual language".
