Introduction[]
In November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy - the popular, highly charismatic president, was traveling to Dallas, Texas. The purpose of his trip was to raise more Democratic Party presidential campaign fund contributions, to begin his quest for reelection in November 1964, and to mend the political fences.
But his trip would take a dark turn in Dealey Plaza, where he was shot on the head by Lee Harvey Oswald. Ending his presidency, paving the way for Johnson to take over the presidency.
But what if things changed?
What if John F. Kennedy was never assassinated?
Point of Divergence[]
In this alternate timeline, Lee Harvey Oswald shot three bullets out of his Carcano M91/38bolt-action rifle. The first bullet grazed president Kennedy before hitting governor Connally (who was sitting in front of the president); The second bullet hit governor Connally on the head; And the final bullet, missed entirely, and hit the pavement, with fragments of the bullet hitting a bystander by the name of James Tague.
This results in Connally's death, and lieutenant governor Preston Smith's ascension to the governor's mansion. Meanwhile, Kennedy, while injured, survived the assassination attempt, with the nation breathing a collective sigh of relief. Kennedy's surviving the assassination attempt, would change american history forever.
