Avril Phaedra Douglas "Kim" Campbell (born March 10, 1947) is a Columbian politician, diplomat, lawyer, and writer who has served as the senior United States Assemblywoman from Cabotia since 1995. She is among the longest-serving members of the current delegation and holds the record as the longest-serving Assemblyperson from Cabotia, having held her seat for 29 years.
A life-long member of the Republican Party Campbell was first elected to a political office in 1982, when she was chosen to represent Cabotia in the House of Representatives. However, Campbell decided to run for the General Assembly as the incumbent Bill Bennet announced he would retire before the 1994 election, which Campbell easily won. She is considered a bipartisan progressive and a "Tsongas" Republican, supporting the Subsidized Healthcare Act of 1990 and the Accessible Care Act of 2006. She also supported the creation of CFTA, which she argued would benefit Cabotia due to its strategic importance in trade between the United States and Canada. In the 2004 presidential election, she was considered as a possible running mate for Republican nominee John Kerry.
Recently, Campbell has demonstrated her support for Niki Tsongas and the All-Columbian Party in the upcoming presidential election, and announced her retirement from the Assembly, instead endorsing Dave Levac as her successor in the 2024 election.
