In OTL, General Lavr Kornilov led a failed coup against the Russian provisional government in September 1917, in what was perhaps the last chance to avoid the October (Bolshevik) Revolution. But it failed, and even if it succeeded it would have been hard for Kornilov to keep Russia united.
But what if it happened in July 1917, when the Template:VKP(b) was only beginning to gain strength in Russia, when there still was hope for such a Kornilov regime to hold on to power and to keep Russia in WWI until the victorious end?
