Kradelia (Kradelian: Kradiel), officially the Duchy of Kradelia (Kradelian: Hirtugemit Kradiel), is a island country in Northern Europe. The capital and largest city is Kyltes.
The territory of today's Kradelia was already inhabited during the Mesolithic. From the 7th century, North Germanic tribes came to the territory of today's Kradelia. During the 7th to 11th centuries, the territory was divided between four duchies which were later united after the Kradelian Wars under the rule of Seiran Duke Olaf in 1024 who proclaimed the Duchy of Kradelia and became the first Duke of Kradelia. Kradelia became a constitutional monarchy after the 1848 revolution.
Kradelia is a unitary parliamentary constitutional monarchy and a developed country. Kradelia is a member of the United Nations.
Etymology[]
The name Kradelia is derived from the Kradelian words Kra which translates to green and Diel which translates to island. the first mentions of the name come from the 12th century. The original English name for Kradelia was Kradielia, which however changed in the 19th century.
History[]
Early years (1024-1057)[]
The Duchy of Kradelia was established in 1024, i.e. after the end of the Kradelian Wars with the Seiran victory. The first duke of Kradelia was Olaf who was the last duke of Seir. Despite Seir's victory in the Kradelian Wars, they still failed to conquer the Duchy of Lithenia in the west of the island, leaving the island still divided between two duchies, which also led to a few battles between these duchies.
Olaf died in November 1046 and was succeeded by his only son Eric, who ruled until his death on 2 June 1057, and since he died without an heir to the throne, the Seir family died out, which led to Magnus from the Eslige family becoming the new duke of Kradelia.
House of Eslige (1057-1389)[]
Kradelia under the rule of House of Eslige won battles against the Duchy of Lithenia and was subsequently able to defeat Lithenia in 1247, making Lithenia annexed by Kradelia. However, the Eslige family began to decline because Duke Eric IV died in 1386, which led to his eight-year-old son Inge becoming the duke, but since Inge was very ill, he died in 1389 at the age of eleven, thus the Eslige family died out. After the death of the last duke from the Eslige family, Charles from the Sjend family was elected as the new duke.
