The Liberal Party of the United States was a major American political party during the 19th and early 20th centuries. An offshoot of the National Union Party, it based itself on classical liberalism, however it later gravitated more to agrarianism and populism under the leadership of President William Jennings Bryan.
The party held dominance in the American Midwest, where it competed with the Socialist Party for votes.
