The 2019 FA Cup Final was played between English Champions Manchester City and midtable team Watford. Most people predicted an easy Manchester City victory. The kickoff whistle was blown at Wembley and play began, Kevin De Bruyne saw 2 shots just past the post within 10 minutes. Watford hit the counter but Troy Deeney was unexpectedly in the box and was fouled, a penalty was given and Deeney stepped up and scored. But by the 30 minute mark Raheem Sterling put one past the keeper to equalize. 20 minutes after the second half started Kyle Walker would score from outside the box to put the Sky Blues over. Everything seemed lost for Watford as the clock hit the 88th minute and City had corner but a sloppy kick saw defender Adam Masina take it and run upfield. A panicked Ederson initially tried to meet him but decided to return to the goal and Masina made a 30 yard chip shot into the goal. That saw the match go into extra time and eventually penalties which Watford won 4-2. |
