The president of the United States of Columbia is the head of state and head of government of the United States, directly elected to a four-year term by the people. The officeholder leads the executive branch of the federal government and is the commander-in-chief of the United States Armed Forces. Since 1946, the President is elected through popular vote, with the abolition of the Electoral College.
Since the post-war, there are three well-established major parties dominating the Columbian politics, the conservative National Party, the liberal Democratic Party, and the left-wing Progressive Party. Nowadays, there are the Libertarian Party and Socialist Party, parties founded in the mid-'70s but growing recently.
