Alternative History
COA family de Landgrafen von Hessen

This is a list of rulers of Hesse (German: Hessen), originally founded as the Langraviate of Hesse in 1264. Hesse was elevated to a duchy in 1495, and also achieved electorate status in 1347. The first ruler of Hesse was Henry the Child, who ruled from 1264 to 1308, and founded the House of Hesse, from which the early rulers of Hesse derived. The first ruler of a unified Duchy of Hesse was Agnes the Excommunicated, who ruled from 1480 to 1532. During her reign Hesse was also unified with the County of Nassau, intertwining those two polities for much of their remaining history.
