This is a list of the world's sovereign states ordered by number of inhabitants as of 2023, which ONU estimates at 7.68 billion as of 2023. In addition, this list includes certain states with limited recognition.
A numbered rank is assigned to the 139 member states of the United Nations, the three observer states,
the three International zones of Spitsbergen, Sankt-Peterburg, and Tangier, and the Free Territory of Grahamland. In addition, sovereign states with limited recognition are included, but not assigned a number rank.
