The following is a list of heads of state of the Boer Republic since its establishment of a republic in 1961.
Ceremonial State President of the Boer Republic (1961)[]
For a brief period in 1961, the Boer Republic was a parliamentary republic. Charles Robberts Swart would serve as the ceremonial President from the 31st of May 1961 to the 7th of November 1961. He would use close allies in the National Party to pass a new Constitution which abolished the position of Prime Minister and gave greater power to the Presidency.

Executive State President of the Boer Republic (1961–1987)[]
With the Presidency gaining executive power in 1961, Swart would use the position to consolidate more power. The President was initially elected by the Parliament with set 5-year-terms and a maximum limit of 2 terms. But Swart would use allies in Parliament to pass constitutional amendments that abolished term limits in 1966. After years of consolidating power and purging elements of opposition with the National Party, a 1970 amendment would be passed that established that the State President would serve for life. This system of authoritarianism would come to be referred to as "Swartism" in the early 1980s, with the National Party renaming itself to the Swartist National Party in 1985. The position of State President would officially be abolished in 1987. In its place would emerge the executive position of "Supreme Guide of the Nation".

President of the Boer Republic (2023)[]
After the end of the Great African War, the Boer Republic took steps to strip away the authoritarian state and introduce more freedoms. This included ending the title "Supreme Guide of the Nation". Instead the Boer Republic sought to be a democratic presidential republic. John Steenhuisen was placed as the interim president until elections could be organized. During the February Crisis in the nation, Steenhuisen stepped down and multiple presidents followed until the ultimate establishment of a military regime.
