The president flew to Copenhagen in order to attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2009. In April 2010, he went against recommendations and flew to Europe in order to attend the funeral of late president Lech Kaczyński in Kraków, who died in a plane crash outside of Smolensk, Russia on April 10, 2010.
