The Republic of Long Island is a country on the island of Long Island and neighboring islands.

In 1912, the US government was collapsing due to lack of transportation and communication. Southern New York was controlling itself, with the capital as New York City. Eventually, that government fell apart, and by 1943 a republic was formed on Long Island.
By 1952, the government was facing a problem. There wasn't enough food to feed the population of 600,000 people. So, the government set out to colonize the islands south of Boston, and the coast of former Southern Connecticut. As a result the government was able to produce food to sustain the population, and was able to focus on other things.
