Louisiana (French: Louisiane), officially known as the Louisianan Republic (French: République louisianne) is a country located in the center of North America. It is bordered by the Gulf of Mexico to the southeast, by Columbia to the east, California to the west, Newfoundland to the northeast, Vesperia to the northwest, and Mexico to the southwest. Its capital is Riviere, while the largest city is Jacquesville. It is one of the two French-speaking countries in Latin America along with Haiti.

A portion of Colonial Mexico, the Tejas territory was annexed by the French to Louisiana by the late 17th century, eventually becoming the main French colony in the Americas, surpassing Haiti. Following a large influx of immigration to the colony, there was an unequal distribution between the sparsely populated North Louisiana and the vastly populated Tejas and South Louisiana. Following concerns over the growing English-speaking population (coming from the Rebel migration from Columbia, later emigrated to west), as well as the growing control of France over the colony, settlers revolted and declared independence.

Following an era of political instability and economic stagnation, Louisianan economy started to grow exponentially with the oil boom, becoming heavily industrialized by the half of the century. Between 1950 and 1990, the political battleground of Louisiana was dominated by the two-party system between the left-wing Republican Party and right-wing Party of the Nation, until it was broken by the upset victory of Henri Pierrot in 1992. A political reform was made, as Louisiana gradually became a multi-party system.

Louisiana is an unitary state and a presidential constitutional republic. A developed country, Louisiana has the world's 18th-largest economy by largest GDP and 14th by largest PPP. Its economy and influence in North America makes the country a regional and middle power, and a newly industrialized country. It ranks high on levels of economic freedom and low on perceived corruption. However, problems such as social inequality, crime, retaining capital punishment affects intensively the population of the country. Louisiana is a member of the Society of Nations, the Pan American League, the North American Union, and the Francophonie.
