The Republic of Luxembourg is a country in Western Europe which was established in 1920 after the Luxembourg Revolution of 1920, which overthrew the apparent pro-German Grand duchess, Marie-Adélaïde.
Luxembourg was an officially neutral nation in the Second World War, but helped support the fascist nations of France, Britain and Belgium.
In 1979, Luxembourg’s total area and population doubled when Belgium was divided up into Flanders and the French Province of Wallonia.
