Sandwiched between France and Germany, the history of Luxembourg stretches back to the 10th century. Occupied at various times by either of its larger neighbors, the people retained their own sense of identity. Today, as a member of NATO, Luxembourg is a prosperous country, and a headquarters for a number of international corporations.
