The Magic Kingdom is located in the former site of Walt Disney World outside Orlando, Florida. Populated by 7,830 individuals as of 2023, it is the most populous area in the Orlando Exclusion Zone. While nominally falling under the greater jurisdicton of the Floridian military patrols through the area, it is technically run by the Head Mouse, The "King of The Kingdom", although the City's day-to-day operations fall in the hands of the Mayor. The city was founded by remaining staff and tourists at the park, as the park was equipped with food to handle almost 30,000 visitors a day. After 2 years, a group of emergency staffers staying started the cult around the Mickey Mouse costume as a form of entertainment. The eccentricities of the region are mostly a cultural practice now, rather than an actual religious belief.
History[]
Pre-Doomsday History[]
Magic Kingdom is a theme park located at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. The park first opened its gates to the public on October 1, 1971 and quickly became one of the most popular theme parks in the world. Magic Kingdom was inspired by Disneyland, the first Disney theme park, which opened in California in 1955. However, Magic Kingdom is much larger than Disneyland and features many unique attractions that cannot be found in the original park.
The park is divided into six themed areas, including Main Street, U.S.A., Adventureland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland. The park's iconic Cinderella Castle serves as the centerpiece of the park, and it is visible from almost every area of the park. Over the years, Magic Kingdom has expanded and added many new attractions, including the famous Pirates of the Caribbean ride, Space Mountain, and the Haunted Mansion. By 1983, Magic Kingdom had firmly established itself as one of the world's premier theme parks, attracting millions of visitors each year.
Formative Years[]
On September 25th, 1983; at 7:40 A.M., A Nuclear Missile hit Orlando killing millions. It is estimated 30,000 People were visiting the two parks that day, but many evacuated the parks and headed far from civilization as possible. The remaining 12,000 were moved to the Utilidor tunnels under the park in case more bombs fell and to protect them from Fallout. One day, in 1985, a group of people decide to start a cult around the Mickey Mouse costume to give them something to pass the time. They built a throneroom in an employee brake room and took turns wearing the costume. Over the years the tunnels and buildings have been fitted out with greenhouses, dining areas. storage rooms, residential areas, and common areas. For years the survivors lived inside the tunnels until 1988, when the radiations levels were safe enough.
Modern Era[]
The Magic Kingdom lies within the borders of the Republic of Florida but has never participated in the nation. The Head Mouse is the leader of the nation now as an elected monarch. By the laws of the land, the head mouse is elected every year and no person can be head mouse two times in a row and can only be Head Mouse twice in their life. Life has returned to the surface but only Tomorrowland, Mainstreet USA, The Grand Floridian, and Fantasyland are used. In 2005, about 1,000 people moved to Epcot to for more living space and to use the countries of the world display as there homes. and the attractions revived to the world.
Government[]
Cult of The Mouse[]
The Cult of the Mouse is a governmental system surrounding the Head Mouse assuming the costume of Mickey Mouse. The "cult" is not a religion like many would think, but rather a cultural practice. The Cult revolves around the Head Mouse, who is chosen every year in an election. They essentially act as a constitutional monarch for that year, but can only assume the role as leader while wearing the Mickey Mouse Costume. A person cannot be the Head Mouse twice in a row and also cannot be Head Mouse more than twice in their life. As the kingdom is a tight community, the Head Mouse usually just announces what project will be worked on, changes in rations or raising concerns that another community member has issued.
The Mouseketeers[]
The Mouseketeers are the costumed guards and de facto military of the Magic Kingdom. They exist mostly for show, as the Kingdom remained isolated within the Exclusion Zone, save for a couple raider attacks in the previous decades. The Mouseketeers are taught combat but rarely need to exercise their skills, training mostly to parade around and put on a show inside the character costumes. Parades happen on the Walt Disney's Birthday (December 5th), Opening Day, (October 1st), and on the Fourth of July. The Mouseketeers also did a memorial service on Remembrance Day (September 25).
Districts and Cultures of The Kingdom[]
The local governance of the Kingdom is divided into 6 districts, or "cultures", essentially being the various wards that developed from the sections of the park.
Fantasyland[]
Fantasyland acts as the capital of the Kingdom with the castle and Mouseketeers Baracks. In its culture, Medieval style (Renaissance Fair like), colorful clothes and fake armor is commonly worn. They style there buildings to look like castles or medieval homes. It contains most of the government buildings like meeting halls, the library, the executive mansion of Cinderella's Castle and the extensive system of barracks under the Park. Fewer 50 people live here permanently, owing to its role as a government headquarters.
Tomorrowland[]
Tommorowland acts as the industry hub of the Kingdom where they disassemble old rides, make needed items with the scrapes and where other light manufacturing occurs. People here wear working clothes rather than the tounge-in-cheek costumers. The buildings are usually painted in lighter, cleaner colores but gather up grime and other stains over the years. This district contains both indoor and outdoor workstations, solar panels, space mountain warehouse, and the smelter. No one lives in this district as it is used for working.
Main Street[]
Mainstreet is the center of the kingdom, the common junction between the districts. It includes the rations distribution center, theater, arcade(moved from tomorrowland) the market. and city hall. The buildings here are designed to look like early-20th-century small-town America. It has about 700 residents mostly shop workers and maintenance workers.
Fronterland[]
Fronterland is where the greenhouses are located. All the buildings are styled like the American Wild West with most of the residents dressing like it with sheriffs in each district dressing in cowboy clothes. This district contains the greenhouses, saloon, law inforcement headquarters, and the Livestock Barn
Grand Floridian[]
The Grand Floridian is a former hotel resort turned residential district of the Kingdom. It holds up to 3,000 people in it. It currently has only operational monorail to the Kingdom and as of 2023, is self sustaining due to solar panels imported from trades in the Republic of Florida.
Epcot[]
Epcot is still being reclaimed, with roughly 1,000 people currently living in the remnants of the former park.
