Manchukuo (Chinese: 滿洲國, Mǎnzhōu guó, Japanese: 満州国, Manshū kuni), officially: Empire of Manchukuo (Chinese: 滿洲國帝國, Mǎnzhōu guó dìguó) is a protectorate of the Japanese Empire located in Northeast Asia, bordering the Japanese Empire, Russia and Mongolia. At first, it was a puppet state of the Japanese Empire, but over time it began to take the form of an autonomous state.
