This House is Habsburg's House[]

[1] Yay, first spot. Basically, in this ATL, Charles V of Spain never splits the family into the junior branch, and we see a continuation of the senior branch. The Habsburgs quietly begin to fold the Dutch and others into their culture, and vice versa. Eventually the HRE is consolidated into the Germanic Empire, and Castile unites with Aragon and Portugal, forming the Iberian Empire. Sandwiching France and forcing them into cooperation, the three nations wage a massive war against the British Isles and they trash them. The French win the British colonies in the New World and the French and Iberians split their Indian power. Soon the Russians scare everyone west of the Austrian border under their power, with some heavily damaging wars. Eventually the Habsburgs turn on the French, but not after the French and Russians conquer North America. The Habsburgs use their new found power to unite Italy and the Balkans under their rule, and also manage to seize the Golden Horn from the Ottomans. Desperate. the Ottomans turn to the ever-expanding Russians for help, and the most powerful alliance in history is born. Meanwhile, Henry VIII uses his daughters to his advantage and unites France with England, a very risky political move, but one that saves both kingdoms.

Naturally, rumbles of revolution rise up in the Habsburg territories, and Austrian Napoleon (hahahaha!) beats the living daylights out of them. Meanwhile, the French lose control over New France, very much thanks to their union with England, and the Union turns to Africa for colonialism, jacking Kongo and South Africa before the Habsburgs can. The Hapsburgs then conquer North Africa under a puppet Moroccan sultanate, and West Africa under a puppet Malian kingdom. The Habsburgs also colonize New Zealand (New Austria), the Philippines (Franzland), and East Australia (Terra Australis). The Greeks and Italians, heavily oppressed by Napoleon, flee to Australia and the Pacific and form exile states that become regional powers. In this time of chaos, the Mughals unite India east of the Russian border and stretch all the way to Indochina.

Eventually even the Habsburgs begin to lose power, and see Brasilea (formed by the Portuguese royalty in exile) supporting massive revolutions that reform the Aztecs (Aztex Empire) and Incans (Inkan Empire). The Aztex also support a revolution in Franzland and later annex it. The last territories in South America also revolt, creating Patagonia and Nova Granada. The Russians come to dominate Asia as they push their southern border to the Indian ocean, conquering Persia and destroying all those who stand in their way. The Russians also accomplish a great feat by conquering Japan and using their new vantage point to conquer Korea, Manchuria and most of Western China, forcing the Mings into a rump state.

The Mughals, growing more and more powerful, colonize the Swahili coast and strike fear into the hearts of Europe. Castile has supported the Irish revolt against Anglo-France, making it a success, and Aden has united the nations south of the Ottoman borders. Tension continues rising, and eventually spark into the First World War (1873 - 1880), with the Grand Alliance (Germanic Empire, Castile, China, Iirland, Ethiopia, Aden, Sweden, Patagonia, Nova Granada) facing a major defeat at the hand of the World Pact (Russia, Anglo-France, Ottoman Empire, Mughal Empire,  New France, Brasilea, Aztex Empire, Inkan Empire), with Sweden being annexed by the Russians. The Second World War saw the victories reversed, but the Third and Fourth Wars gave us Pact victories.

Today, the Russian Tsardom has reformed into a constitutional monarchies, and its former colonies of Vinland, Alyeska, Kamerun, and Novorossiya are part of the Russian Commonwealth. Anglo-France retains a rough union with Natal and Kongo, and the Habsburgs continue to rule dominantly in their territories. New Austria and Terra Australis have revolted from Germany and Castile respectively, and Australasia is a haven for peace, not involved in any wars. The Aztex and Inkan Empire have gone back to their cultural roots and have purged Spanish rule from their territories and have joined the ranks of the regional powers. Russia is a massive hyperpower, as is the Habsburg empire, and the race into space is still very much alive (Moon landings, Austria 1947, Mars landing, Russia 1962, Manned Venus landing, Russia 1981, Moon colony, Austria 1975 and Russia 1977, Mars colony Russia 1988 and Austria 1991, detailed exploration of Pluto, Russia 2000, so forth), with Russia constantly battling the Habsburgs for complete domination of the world and associated territories. New France, the Ottoman and Mughal Empires, and Anglo-France are superpowers, with the Aztex, Inkans, New Italy, New Greece, Brasilea, and Aden quickly rising behind them. The future of the world hangs in the balance.

The Capital City of Flowers in the Habsburg - Kogasa[]

The Capital City of Flowers in the Habsburg (Map Contest)

World as of 2013.In this timeline, Albert I of Germany managed to avoid assassination and manages to suppress a revolt in Swabia. A few years later, the Habsburg managed to gain a greater influence, even more so when Frederick III was crowned Holy Roman Emperor in 1452. Soon the Habsburg Monarchy was established in 1526 and managed to rule most of Germany as well as Austria-Hungary. By the 1600s Spain was annexed into the Habsburg Monarchy as it was still ruled by their house. Around the 1700s only Portugal, France, the Italian states, Britain, Scandinavia, Russia, and parts of Eastern Europe remained outside of the Habsburg Monarchy. Technology and Science in Europe advanced slower than OTL for the most part, except in Italy, Britain, and Russia to an extent.

The Americas (named Běiguó and Nánguó, respectively) ended up being mostly colonised by China with Zheng He discovering them around the 1410s. By the time the Spanish Habsburgs arrived in Cuba they met with the Chinese and a few wars took place. By 1525, the Spanish and Habsburg managed to establish a colony around other parts of the Americas. Japan also established a few colonies in Nánguó.

In Africa, the lands were divided between the Habsburgs, Venice (later Italy), and the British, and France. In Asia, many powerful empires managed to resist European colonisation though the Habsburgs managed to colonise parts of Indonesia.

In the world of today, most of Europe is filled with developing countries, with Italy, France, the UK, and Russia being the newly industrialised countries out of Europe.

In Asia, Japan and China are the most technologically advanced and all Asian nations are fully developed countries. In the Americas, most of the nations are also fully developed countries with the Chinese and Japanese colonies fairing better than the European ones. The Superpowers in this world are China, Japan and Méizhōu.

The main characters in the Touhou Project are Yuyuko Saigyouji and Youmu Konpaku.

The Habsburg Empire - CookieDamage []

[3](I may or not have accidently created a map based around the year 1820 and not the desginated present day as stated in the challenge. Oops...)

POD: 1640. King Philip IV of Spain puts down revolts in Portugal brought about by the Thirty Years' War. Portugal remains under personal union along with Castille and Aragon. Philip dies in 1665 and Charles II, impotent and frequently ill, takes the throne. In 1697, he produces a single heir, Maria. She inherits the throne in 1707 upon her father's death and furthur unifies the country. Under her reign, Castille, Portugal, and Aragon were named 'states' and lost their statuses of being Kingdoms. The next year, Maria declared the United Spains to be in existence. Spain continued to grow. In 1794, Spain acquired French lands after France's devastating loss against Austria during the War of the French Revolution.

On the other side of Europe, Austria fought a war against the Ottoman empire in 1712. The Ottoman Empire lost the war, and ended up releasing Wallachia and Greece as sovereign nations. Some Ottoman territories were also annexed to Austria. In 1743, the throne of Denmark passed to King Erik Habsburg, thus beginning a Habsburg rule in the land. By 1750, Austria had landed colonies in western North America, Oceania, SE Asia, and India. France was completely devastated during the Seven Years' War, with Great Britain and Austria warring against France and dividing New France among themselves. Also during the war, Austria carved out the Kingdom of Burgundy as a new vassal. In 1786, Frederick II of Prussia died. His successors had also died. William Habsburg then claimed the throne of Prussia. Austria once more gained land in 1795 when France launched a war against Austria. France was once more defeated, and land was annexed to the Austrian Netherlands and Burgundy. In 1803, Wallachia collapsed due to violent infighting and Ottoman patriotism. The following year, Wallachia was made a client state of Austria. Greece was made into a client state in 1820, following a failed war against the Russians.

In 2013, Austria is still enormous and cast a great shadow of influence over Greece and Wallachia, and the United Spains still procure great lands in the Americas.

Discussion:

Did you brand Iberia as United Spains on purpose? It should be more like the Iberian empire or United Iberia.. [4] [5] OreoToast555(Talk)(Sandbox) 16:11, July 22, 2013 (UTC)

Yes. I think I read somewhere, probably Wikipedia, that only in 1718 was Spain fully centralized. From the time of Charles I around 1500 to 1718, Spain was still Castille and Aragon, except they were united under the Spanish banner. At the time, people still called it Spain, but IIRC the term 'United Spains' was popular as well. Cookiedamage (talk) 16:23, July 22, 2013 (UTC)

Legend of Charles V - Mscoree[]

[6] World Map in the year 1800 AD.Charles I, son of Philip the Fair was crowned on 28 June 1519, ruling over the Habsburg Monarchy, the Burgundian Netherlands and the Crowns of Castile and Aragon. Charles I ruled over Castile, Leon and Aragon, making him the first King of Spain, and Spain's overseas colonies. Charles I placed his brother, Ferdinand I in charge of his Habsburg territory, who would marry Anne of Bohemia and Hungary in 1521, adding Bohemia, Hungary, Moravia, Silesia, and Lusatia to his domain. Ferdinand would also be tasked with controlling the Spanish Americas, using a less aggressive, less resource intensive policy. Less attention was given toward the Americas, leading to a slower growth in the colonies, but more resources were availalbe in Iberia and the Lowlands to put down rebellions and continental wars. Charles' son, Philip II would unite Portugal and Spain through dynastic union.

During the Thirty Years War the Habsburgs fought against the French, Swedish, and other nations. The Imperial army, which was expanded and upgraded far greater, managed to secure a victory at the Battle of Wittstock, pushing back the Swedish. The French military efforts failed, and the Spanish invaded France through the southern border. The veterans of the engagement with the Swedish were ordered to invade France through the north, defeating Bernhard of Saxe-Weimar at Compiègne and occupying much of France. The Thirty Years War ended with a close Habsburg victory, curtailing the influence of the Bourbons. With France weakened no one contested Austria's influence in Italy, leading to vassalage across the peninsula.

After the successful Great Turkish War the nation of Austria annexed lands across Hungary and the Balkans, pushing the Ottomans from Vienna. France would also loose influence in Spain, leading to the continuation of Habsburg Spain. After the Seven Years War the nation of Great Britain was forced to cede its colonies south of New Netherlands, including Virginia and the few English settlements in the Carolinas. Over the next few decades Austria would continue to influence European affairs, becoming the dominant German state, even in the north. After a few decisive wars in the late 1800's against Prussia and the northern Prussian vassals, Denmark, and France, respectively, Austria formed Großdeutsche (Greater Germany), encompassing all of the German lands in Europe.

Habsburg Empires - Sine Dei Gloriem[]

[11]1815 Habsburg Empires[12]Habsburg Empires 2013

[13]MapKey,Habsburg EmpiresPOD: the Fourth Crusade is lead by a Habsburg family member, and the current Duke of Austria. As in OTL, a coup d'etat occurs and the crusaders sacked the city, but instead of becoming the Latin Empire, it became the Empire of Romania under control of the son of the duke, that had proven in a decisive battle against the Nicaean Empire  to be the best ruler of the Romanian Empire. It was in 1215 with the last war with the Nicaean when this is proven as the Palaiologos armies are destroyed and after 1217 some lands are recovered from the Turks, being given to the Greek Komnenian and Palaiologos monarchs, as a buffer state in its most part. After the POD the French and the Austrian coordinate crusade against the Emirate of Tunisia hoping to get a hold out of Christendom in Africa successfully taking Tunisia by 1260, forming the First Kingdom of Carthage ever since the fall of the Vandal kingdom, it was under French ruling until the mysterious death of the Capet monarchy in 1321 the Austrian Monarchy continues rising, in 1300 most of the German southern Duchies including Bavaria and even the Swiss confederacy became part of the Austrian kingdom, in 1312 the HRE became for the first time under Austrian direct ruler,

the Romanian Empire was for the first time invaded by the Ottomans, who had focused their growth in Central Anatolia and later the Northern Levant until then, the armies  swarmed the Anatolian possessions, taking Nicaea and Smyrna as soon as the war started, by 1359 the Ottomans had taken most of Anatolia and were invading Southern Greece, Lydia the only Greek noble kingdom in Anatolia only held its existence due to the vassalage offer by the several Ottoman rulers and its armies that were prepared to protect the nation from Turkish invasions. By 1396 most of Greece and Bulgaria is under Ottoman control, even Constantinople was almost at hands of the Ottomans, but the Emperor Francis I launched his own invasion after the Pope had agreed on starting a new crusade, but it was not only Germany, it was France, Spain and Aragon nations that had become Habsburg after the foundation of the Romanian Empire, the Ottoman advance into Europe was destroyed as in the Battle of Smyrna the Ottoman fleet was defeated and Antiochia was taken allowing the entrance of a dual campaign at Ottoman Anatolia prompting the return of the Ottoman armies in the Balkans to Anatolia, the last crusade ended in 1405 the war ended, with the Ottoman withdrawal of Western Anatolia and the Balkans, the title of Being the true successors of Rome was taken by the Austrian Habsburg family. Soon Venice was invaded by Austria, the defeat of Venice began the initiation of the Italian Hegemony of Austria and the Beginning of a golden era for the HRE as it begin the reunification of Germany and re-imposition of German ruling over Italy,

By 1435 Granada is taken by a coalition of armies, as Austria, Aragon, France and Spain begin the invasion, ending with the last holding of Islam in Europe, for the first time. Ever since the fall of Rome most of the Mediterranean was Christian. By 1491, Columbus seeks for funding a travel to India through the Atlantic. However, most of the European monarchs (either Habsburg or their own monarchy) refused as there was no major need. However, Charles X of France agreed on giving him his travel as he thought that he could either gain anything, prestige or power both useful and needed. Soon France gained control of much of the Americas, the Incas falled to the French by 1519 and the Aztecs by 1524 ,The America's territory was divided between the several new nations in 1530 after most of the coastal regions of the Atlantic were mapped already, The Roman Kingdom, Founded in 1507 after the Son of the Pope Alexander VI, Giovanni Borgia is crowned as King of Rome after assuring its control on Naples and the Papal States. England backed this as the fears of a Habsburg war against was on the rising, he soon invaded Carthage, that was declining in front of the Ottomans and the Muslims from the Sahara, the Borgian Dynasty arose, Russia begin the expansion towards Tartaria and its attempts at securing the Samii territory. in 1600 the Convulsion began to occur as the Habsburg Spania, began to face the new threats, from revolts and other events, the colonial holds outs made by Spania in Nueva Leon (Florida) and Nueva Granada (Venezuela) where growing and thriving, but France was  the most succesfull, gaining the gold and power of the Incas, by 1725 France entered into civil war, Falling into the Hands of Revolution as Bourbon and Auvergne monarchs begin a Coup d'etat Against Henry XV succeding but causing occupation from the Germans,Venetians and Spanish, only Brittany and Paris were still under French ruling thanks to the Intervention of Britain favouring the Bourbon and Auvergne, in 1750 the Occupation of France ended as a Revolution occurred claiming for the First time the Republic of France, the French advance took Burgundy and Valonia to France, Forming the Gaul republic of France, and Keeping the empire, which followed the same idealist path. The British-backed war ended with the Ceeding of Nova Corsica by the Venetians to the British forming the Colony of New South Lincoln, Oceania is discovered by 1780 starting a new colonialist campaign at Australia.

Its in 1793 when the first Rhenish war occurs when the Rhineland province is invaded by a joint coalition of German, Spanish and Venetian forces after declaring war to France , the war makes the countries that although being heavily powerful, are unable to fight the extended French empire, but in the Americas uprisings occur through all of the French Americas igniting in 1794 the Nouvelle Aquitaine Revolt (In OTL Colombia) soon most of the French Territories by 1820 after the end of the Several Revolts, after the decisive success of the Republic of Nouveau Paris (Quebec) in 1815 ending with the French revolts at America, dividing the Empire into several smaller states such as the Mexican Republic,The Cascadian Republic and the Mayan Republic in North America The Federation of New Aquitaine, the Peruvian Empire and the Pacific Republic, in South America,

the rest of the nations begin their own process of independence later, such as New England in 1834 forming the Federation of New England and later the Federated States of America, British Canada in 1837 Forming the Lawrentian Republic, The German Neu Wienn forming the Republic of New Deutschesland, in 1853 and the Polish New Lithuania forming the Republic of New Lithuania in 1844, The Spanish Colony of Nueva Leon declared its independence by 1875, after the Spaniard Civil war Along with Parts of Nueva Granada, Reaching its independence later that decade by 1879 with the end of the civil war and the depletion of the Spanish Military. Nuova Roma Was The second Colony to declare independence declaring its full independence in 1795 realizing that the Kingdom of Rome was forced to join the side of the Carthaginian, French and British, after the war ended the Roman Kingdom continuously tried to recover their main colony but were unable, losing their colony in the Americas they turned their eyes to East Asia, and began their trading empire and Colonization of Australia along with the British and French as well as the Carthaginian.

The Venetian Monarchy faced the Same Issue as the Lost of their Colony in South America Yielded Nuova Venexia as their Main Colony, But the war only caused high taxation and the fact of the lack of almost any freedom in the empire caused the resent of the Colonials which in 1815 started the Civil war and by 1823 the independence was reached by the new Venetians, The Romanian Monarchy faced the same issue as Nea Constantinoupolis declared Independence From them by 1845 During the War With Russia (That Wanted to retake constantinople for Orthodox Hands) and the Invasion of the Ottoman Caliphate.

However the Downfall of the Empires didn't meant the end of the Colonialism in The Americas Was Complete as Nya Daneland (OTL Canada) remained loyal to the Danish Crown and The Colony of Haraldsland (OTL Patagonia), Same occurred to Sweden in South America with Eriksland under the control of the Swedish until the late 1950 When it became a Autonomous Territory, Yet by 1861 the North american Swedish colonies declared independence as Nya Vinland..

The Nations divide further until reaching their Final Configuration by 1979 with the end of the Carthaginian Civil War that ended the Egyptian Occupation of Leptis Magna and Byzacena.

The East Asian Map is very different from ours China is Less extended,Tibet is independent although in the leaning of the Chinese Empire,So is burma, and Several Small Warlords on Indochina, Siam Dominated Over the Khmers and the Spanish Held Control of Vietnam, and Continue controlling the Philippines, Taiwan (San Juan De Cipango) Hainan ( San Fernando del Oriente) and Papua or the Guinee of the East (Guineas e Indias del Oriente)

Ireland Dominated the Trading of part of the Indonesian Islands Sharing its control with the Roman Kingdom and Later Republic, Japan Took the Control of Korea to China and Some Islands from Spain, after the Early reunification in 1598 after a Failed Spanish Incursion, with the Intention of Making a Stronghold to take Later China ( With Aid of Germany, Hungary,Romania, France and Venice).

India was stronger and held out the Spanish, British and French and instead form their own nation after the Collapse of the “Mahabaratha” Empire as Called due to its Centralization around the ideas of the Mahabaratha and the Baghabad Gita, Its Only Threatened by the Persian Shi'a Caliphate but in the end the Indian Lands remain independent. Africa's Colonialism Starts in 1820, Earlier as result of the French Civil Wars and the Spanish Loss of Money, this is, in the end what Drives Spain into the Status of World power by 2013 as they conquer most of the African Territories by 1850 and Held it Until 2012 due to the Power of the New Spanish Imperial Army

Spain and the Habsburg Monarchy is again on its peak, ( The Habsburg Being on its Peak by 1650 – 1740 with the French Habsburgs ) and Most if not all the Nations are either Colonies or Protectorates of Spain.
