Mediacorp is a Singaporean group of companies that operates in the sectors of mass media, publishing, film making and technology. It controls 16 radio stations and 14 television channels in all eight languages of Singapore.
Mediacorp has long been accused of having some sort of monopoly, as the country considered itself unstable to operate television channels from other companies other than the SPBS. In 2005, it bought two channels from SPH MediaWorks and Natseven Pte Ltd, allowing it to buy Channels U and K (Channel I shut down) and NTV7, forcibly integrating them into their portfolio of channels.
