The military of the Celtic Alliance , the Celtic Defnce Force is divided into four parts: Army, Navy, Naval Infantry and Air Force.

Army

The Celtic Army Defence Force (CADF) is made up of the combined military forces of Ireland and the remnants of the United Kingdom. The Celtic Alliance maintains a standing army of 50,000. Equipment used includes:

  • Leopard One Main Battle Tanks (MBT)
  • M113 Amoured Personal Carriers (APC)
  • M109 Self Propelled Guns (SPG).
  • The standard weapon of the CAA is the M16 Automatic rifle. Other Weapons include the M60 General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) and TOW Anti-Tank missile.
  • The Special Forces (SF) unit of the CAA is the CAA Rangers Wing (CAARW).
  • The Special Forces have access to a variety of weapons including the HK33 assault rifle, the M249 machine gun, the Uzi, H&K MP5, and shotguns like the Remington 7-60 & SIG Benelli M3.

The Army has recently started recently started replacing the Leopard Ones with Challenger One MBTs, based on examples salvaged from the remains of the Royal Tank Regiment base in the town of Bovington, Dorset. An Armoured Brigade using the new tanks was deployed in 2009 to Canada to fight in the Saguenay War.

Navy

Celtic Defence Navy – CDN uses:

  • Amtrim class frigates (based on the Type 21 class, but updated with Seawolf SAMs)
  • Dublin class destroyers (based on the Type 42 batch 2 class)
  • Sabre class amphibious assualt ships (based on a modernized version of the Fearless class)
  • Korrigan class submarines (based on the Type 2400 design, as proposed by Vickers Pre-Doomsday).

A Task Force was deployed off the coast of Canada, consisting of three Amtrim class frigates, one Dublin class destroyer and the Sabre class amphibious assualt ship Celtic Ship (CS) "Sabre", along with two Korrigan class submarines to fight in the Saguenay War.

Naval Infantry

The Celtic Alliance Naval Infantry (CANI) act as marine's and include a naval special forces unit, the Celtic Alliance Maritime Combat Force (CAMCF). There are two Battalions in the CANI. A Battalion was deployed to Canada to fight in the Saguenay War.

Air Forces

Celtic Air Defence Force – CAirDF operates:

  • Pilatus built PC-7 trainers
  • Modenized Mirage III Fighter jets
  • F-104G starfighters, which are used in the reconnisance/strike role
  • Puma helicopters in the transport role, as well Lynx helicopters in the attack role

The CAAF has recently brought Saab Viggens from the Nordic Union. There are three variants of the aircraft in service, in the reconnisance, strike and interceptor roles. The CAAF is planning to replace it's Mirages and Starfighters with Viggens by the middle of 2010. No.11 Squadron of the CAAF was deployed to Canada with its Strike Viggens to fight in the Sanguenay War.
