Monarchist World is a timeline in which many different PODs are present which result in many of the world's monarchies that collapsed in OTL remaining in power.

Nations of the World

(recently adopted timeline so list is a concept rather then a firm certainty)

Asia

  • Empire of China
  • Empire of Japan
  • Persia (Kingdom of Iran)
  • Maratha Empire (With British colonial interests focused in the Americas India doesn't fall to Company Rule under the East-India Trade Company)
  • Siam (Rattanakosin Kingdom)

Africa

  • Abyssinian Empire/Empire of Ethiopia
  • Kingdom of Egypt
  • Kingdom of Morocco

Europe

  • German Empire? (might not even arise with out the threat of Bonapartist's France, but such would still leave a number of German monarchies in the region- may even result in a German branch of the Habsburgs serving as Emperor; there is complications in uniting Germany under an Austrian monarch)
  • Great Britain
  • Kingdom of France
  • Kingdom of Greece (I've not gotten into examining the Ottomans yet though I do desire to avoid the formation of the Republic of Turkey)
  • Kingdom of Italy (removal of most if not all Italian Republics is achieved by this though it implies 'romantic nationalism' which discerns that power derives from the bottom up and developed as a counter to dynastic rule and thus threatens the hold of Monarchism over this world)
  • Kingdom of Spain (has taken Portugal?)
  • Kingdom of Sweden (or the Kalmar union becomes a United Kingdom)
  • Russian Empire/Tsardom of Russia

North America

  • Kingdom of Hawaii

South America

  • Empire of Brazil (established after Spain conquered Portugal?)

Points of Divergence by continent

Asia

Africa

Europe

  • Cavaliers (Royalist) win the English Civil War. <- won't know about the other pods till this one is explored. The ideas of the Parliamentary victory carried on in OTL and while they are less developed in this timeline due to Parliamentary forces being defeated in the war they may still linger. This defeat could impact England's entire colonial Empire and society due to the lack of a brief Commonwealth.
  • French Revolution fails or doesn't happen.

North America

  • British work out a peace before open revolution or win the war or elected to use a vice royal system like the Spanish though this seems unlikely due to private enterprise being involved in the establishment of these colonies. Crown Colonies where a thing though so maybe events can be orchestrated in this timeline so that the colonies become Crown Colonies.

South America

Religion and Monarchy

This section is largely in preparation for the article 'Theology (Monarchist World)' which will focus on interpretations of religious text that support Monarchy so that such interpretations can be made prominent in this timeline.

  • Christianity
  • Hinduism - Vedic establishment of the office of King revolves around legends in which a god (though which one various by legend) is crowned King of all other gods. Earthly Kings are said to be established and made victorious by Soma and Savitr in the early Vedic hymns which where created when Kings where chosen from chiefs. By the time of the Brahmins Kings had become hereditary and how they where 'established' by the gods elaborated so that each King is created by the gods themselves before arriving to the Earth in mortal form. Hindu texts establish the the King's duties are to protect, punish, and uphold the virtue of the people. The widowed, children, the destitute, and mentally ill are all to receive royal protection. It's stated in Manu 7:2 that a King is to establish order in a chaotic world for with out him the world is chaos as it was before him.
  • Islam (Shia) - The Shia take on a Caliph (vice regent to Allah) is that he should be an Imam descended from the 'Family of the House' (Muhammad). This position is prominent in the Monarchist World timeline. The downside however is that Monarchies in nations with an Islamic majority who are not descended from the Prophet nor headed by an Imam will experience some opposition.
  • Judaism
  • Shintoism

None Religious Support

None Religious Support or Secular Support for Monarchy comes largely from the efficiency of government under such a system but has other support. Eugenicist for example, believe that Hereditary Monarchy is effective in generating the best leaders. People bred, and schooled from an early age to handle matters of state. Eugenicists thus look at a Monarchs pedigree quite often and if a Monarchy subscribes to a scientific breeding program it's seen as all the more better for the state by Eugenicist as hereditary woes that have been the bane of past monarchs (from inherited insanity to congenital defects) can be bred out for a strong, competent, and learned head of state. Monarchy also has none religious support in that not everyone can be 'King' and internal power struggles only serve to hinder and damage the state; thus having a clear line of succession avoids such harmful conflict.

Althistory Wiki in Monarchist World

(While I can't say the internet as we know would exist I have found myself thinking about what this site would be like and thus the following concepts)

Administration

Similar to OTL's version the administration of the wiki has modeled it's aesthetics on a police force though with out an FBI the force they drew from was something akin to Scotland Yard. That force is the "Temporal Protection Agency" or TPA.

Althistories of Note

  • 13 - 13 is a timeline that sees British America, the thirteen central colonies minus British Quebec and East Florida that is, gain their Independence after a long conflict. The timeline sees these republics continue on as independent nations with the Continental Congress, no longer having to mediate between the colonies and Great Britain becoming something like the Council of Veinna in that it continues to mediate disputes between the free states as it did when they where colonies of the Empire. The timeline sees Georgia begin an expansion into East Florida which was then a French territory having been handed to the French after the American War. Discussion on the timeline's talk page has a suggestion that Spain would be a more likely option but this was dismissed due to Spain having little involvement in the events of the POD and on the grounds that France would be seeking to make up for some lose regarding Quebec in the war prior to the American War. Discussion on the talk page also involves the prospect of Britain attempting to retake the territory comprising the 13 republics but the Admin concludes that Great Britian would be too financially spent to attempt such and be more focused on improving it's hold in Quebec to attempt such a war. Rather the administrator of the timeline feels that France and Prussia may attempt to manipulate these 13 republics however any attempt to make these republics into monarchies is rejected by the timeline's administrator who seeks to allow the timeline to experiment with democracy and examine the possible influence these 13 republics may have on the world. Most angry comments on the talk page involve people reacting poorly to the ideas of a Prussian Monarchy in New York or Pennsylvania being rejected or proposals that the Netherlands or Sweden would attempt to retake territory being rejected by the administrator; Hanlocke16.
  • Columbus Sails from Portugal - The timeline examines how Portugal may have handled colonization of the Carribean in the place of Spain with the POD being King John II of Portugal financing Columbus's voyages.
  • Columbus Sails from England - The timeline has it's POD being King Henry VII of England financing Columbus's voyages.
  • Democratic World - Democratic World is a AB- Biased timeline that sees the Parliamntary forces win the English Civil War, causing a domino effect that cascades through out Europe and into the new world and the unification of Italy being somehow averted. It has a world war between a democratic liberal Europe (most of Europe) against the Tsardom of Russia with the Tsardom collapsing into a Republic that while drawing some influence from the Parliamentary Union of Britain (the result of the Roundhead victory) has more in common with the Roman Republic of Antiquity. It sees most of Eastern Russia shatter into free states.
  • New New Netherlands - NNN as it's called by those who are great fans of or work on the timeline was inspired by Hanlocke16's '13' timeline, and created in response to his rejection of Netherlands, Sweden, Britain, France, and even Spain trying to claim North American territory. It sees the 13 obtain independence similarly (though at a greater cost) to how Hanlocke16's timeline has the events but has East Florida given to the Spanish, and Sweden along with the Netherlands attempting to take back North American territory- even France goes for Quebec in what seems another chapter off the 100 Years War. Hanlocke16 greatly despises the timeline but has come to understand that they have the right to explore such a scenario as they please.
  • Pax Britiania - Pax Britainia is an AB- Biased timeline built around British conquest of the globe.
  • Regla Espanol - It's another AB-Biased timeline built around Spanish conquest of the globe. It's POD is the Spanish winning the Anglo-Spanish War which started in 1585.
  • Virginian King - A timeline where in the Parliamentarians win the English Civil War and execute King Charles I causing the use united by the King's personal union British isles to shatter into three republics while Charles II escapes to Virginia and takes on the direct governance of the colony as 'The Kingdom of Virginia'. The timeline eventually sees Monarchist movements see a revival in the British Isles in response to growing political unrest in the republics. This results in a revolution which sees James II of Virginia crowned King James VII of England and the Scots in 1688.
