Mongolia, officially the Republic of Greater Mongolia, is a landlocked sovereign state in Central Asia. It is bordered by the USSR, of which it is a satellite, the People's Republic of China and Uyghuristan.
In 1964, contact was made with the former province of Inner Mongolia, which had managed to maintain some order, particularly in Hohhot. Over the next three years, troops began to move in and secure areas. By 1967, almost the entirety of Inner Mongolia was under Mongolian Control.

Whilst formerly a satellite state of the Soviet Union, with the collapse of communications, Mongolia took the chance to declare their independence, and reformed as Mongolia.
By 1964, contact had been made with the Chinese province of Inner Mongolia. The province, whilst experiencing some disruption, still had relative order, particuarly in Hohhot, the capital. In 1964, Inner Mongolia, still struggling, invited Mongolian troops to bring stability. By 1965, most of Inner Mongolia was under Mongolian control, and was in the process of being integrated.
Main Article: Soviet Invasion of China However, a shock was to come. In 1968, Soviet Troops entered Mongolian and Manchurian territory. After several months of fighting, much of the North-East was annexed and brought under Soviet Control, and by the end of the year Mongolian leaders were forced to meet with the Soviet Government. On the 5th February, Mongolia was taken back under Soviet Control, though its north-east was merged with Manchuria into the new People's Republic of China .
