Morning in America: An Alternate History is the title of an alternate history novel written in 2021 that tackles one of the ultimate "what if"s in post-Doomsday historical discussions, by depicting a world in which the President Reagan survived his fateful trip to Australia. Armed with the knowledge of the Torrington Plan, Reagan convinces PM Bob Hawke that a new US mainland government is viable and succeeds in enlisting Australian military aid in restoring order to the American mainland. The novel's author based it on the many public interviews given by former APA and Torrington officials in the decades since Doomsday.
Reagan returns to the USA with an Australian military force to help reinforce remaining US forces.
