Moshe Dayan (Hebrew מֹשֶׁה דַּיָּן; born on May 20th, 1915 in the Kibbutz Degania) is a Jewish resistance fighter.
He was born in the Kibbutz Degania „Alef“ near the Sea of Galilee in Palestine, which was then still a part of the Ottoman Empire. His father was the author and Politician Shmuel Dayan, his Mother was named Devorah. Both had emigrated from Ukraine (then still a part of tsarist Russia), to co-found the Kibbutz. Dayan was the second Kid which was born there.
During the British Mandate, Dayan joined the zionist paramilitary Underground organisation Haganah (Hebrew „Defense“) while being only 14 years old. In 1938, he also became a member of the British-organised "Supernumerary Police".
Since late 1939, he is under arrest in Akko, because of illegal activity against the British rule.
Dayan married Ruth Schwartz in 1935. They have a daughter, Yael (* 1939).
