What if the NSAP (National Socialist Workers Party) had taken control of Sweden in the 1930s? What would be the final consequences? In this scenario Sweden will remain neutral and Germany will still lose but Finland will win the winter war.

1929 the great depression hit Europe and America. And this affected Australia, America, Germany and Sweden just to name a few.

This led to a growth in national socialist and communist parties in Sweden because of the current Social Democratic incompetence to solve the problem. Unemployment rose and many people joined the NSAP and rallied behind Sven Olov Lindholm. In the elections of 1936 the NSAP won by a small minority of 35% and ruled together with the Conservative Moderate party, but Sven Olov outmaneuvered them and banned elections in 1938, soon after the Anschluss of Austria.

The social reforms before the war[]

Before the NSAPs rise to power Sweden had an unemployment rate of 40% and mass starvation. Sven Olov Lindholm made so that the banks were controlled by the state so that the state could control the inflation. He gave away farming land on the country side to make sure that people moved out to the countryside and became farmers. He built up the military and enforced laws that made sure companies stayed in the country. He also made sure that factories were built in the cities. This cut the unemployment by 35% in three years.

He made a pact with Finland that made Finnish Swedes to move freely to Sweden, and Swedish Finns move freely to Finland.

A part of the pact was that Sweden got Åland in turn of a defensive pact against the Soviet Union.

The gypsies were put in working camps and shipped off to India in a agreement with the British government.

The Sami people have an autonomous state in the northern mountains of Sweden in Västerbotten and Norrbotten.

Under the first three years of National Socialist rule a lot of administrative and military reforms were passed.
