Nelson Aldrich Rockefeller was the former Governor of New York, who later served as the 37th president of the United States from 1973 to 1977 (Liberal Party). Rockefeller took environmentalist stances, and supported New Hope regulations on business, welfare and Social Security, as well as strict drug laws.

Citing health issues, Rockefeller did not run for a second term and died in 1979.
