The Republic of New Athens (Greek: Δημοκρατία της Νέας Αθήνας) or New Athens (Greek: Νέας Αθήνας) for short, is a country located in the Sea of the King. The country consists of the main island of New Athens and the smaller islands of Zeusia and Hades.
Before the European colonization, the island was inhabited by different peoples from Muqaddas. The first record of the island was thanks to the voyages of Christopher Columbus, which lead to several failed attemps by Castile and other European powers to colonize the island. In the year 1644, a group of Rhomanian navigators would land on the island, establishing the small colony of Platanos, declaring it part of the Rhomanian Empire.
The small population of the island helped to avoid a violent attempt of independence or revolution against Rhomanian rule. In 1902, the island became an official province of the nation. Thanks to international intervention, a referendum would be held on the island in 1961, which would achieve the independence of New Athens as a democratic republic.
After its independence, New Athens became one of the richest countries in the Sea of the King and a very famous tourist place, because of the beautiful beaches in the nation.
