New England comprises, more or less, OTL US states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont and the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island.

History[]

In 1791, the republic of Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and New Connecticut form the New England Alliance. The Alliance provides a common permanent army and navy, common foreign affairs politics, and a common assambly. States keep most of their souveregnity.

In 1798, the New England Alliance Assambly pass an act of permanent Union, as the Federation of New England. This is soon approved by the estates.

In 1816, the British authorities in Canada surrender to Columbia, who annexes Michigan and Ontario. Quebeq declares independence. New England ofers protectorate status to New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Terranova.

The Act of permanent Union of 1798 included a ban on slavery.
